Step-by-Step Commercial Roof Painting - Overview
Step 1: Roof Cleaning with Galv Wash
The process begins with a thorough cleaning of the roof using Galv Wash. This powerful cleaning agent effectively removes all surface contaminants, preparing the roof for optimal treatment and painting.
Step 2: Rust Treatment
To address and prevent further rust development, affected sections are treated with a rust inhibitor. This step is vital for maintaining the structural integrity of the roof, with all necessary products like Reffero Rust-converter & primer supplied by ExperCoatings to ensure compatibility and effectiveness.
Step 3: Patch Prime Fixed Sections
If Referro was not used for rust conversion, all repaired sections must be patch-primed to ensure good adhesion for waterproofing and paint to follow. Apply a thin, even coat, especially around fasteners and rust-treated areas.
Step 4: Waterproofing
Apply a layer of StretchSeal Flex sealant over areas prone to leaks or water accumulation.
Place the StretchSeal membrane over wet sealant sections, then apply another layer of sealant over the membrane to create a durable waterproof barrier.
Step 5: Applying HydroSeal HF Waterproofing
For added protection, coat sealed areas with HydroSeal HF, ensuring all seams, overlaps, and treated spots are covered. This UV-stabilized layer adds mold and corrosion resistance.
Step 6: Priming with Plascon EMS 18
The entire roof surface is primed using Plascon EMS 18 primer, known for its excellent adhesion and compatibility with various topcoats. Supplied by ExperCoatings, this primer lays the foundation for a durable and lasting paint job.
Step 7: Final - Painting with Nuroof Cool
The roofing is then painted with Nuroof Cool, a reflective paint that significantly lowers interior temperatures and reduces energy costs. Like all other materials used in this process, Nuroof Cool is available through ExperCoatings, ensuring that our contractors use only the best products on your commercial roof.
